Ratings and Tasting Notes:
JS=92-93 Really beautiful aromas of ripe currants, blackberries and black olives. Full-bodied with a deep centre palate of pretty fruit, chocolate and toasted oak. It’s relatively long and juicy.
AG=88-90 The 2019 de Cruzeau is a potent, expressive wine. Scorched earth, leather, liquorice, smoke, dried herbs, menthol and incense give the 2019 expansive layers of nuance as well as complexity. This mid-weight Pessac-Léognan has quite a bit to offer. Today, I am especially struck by its persistence. I won't be surprised if it turns out beautifully in the bottle.
WA=86-88 Deep garnet-purple in colour, the 2019 Cruzeau opens with notes of crushed black and red currants, warm black plums and chargrill plus touches of bouquet garni, tilled soil and tapenade. Medium-bodied, the palate has appealing harmony, featuring straightforward, crunchy black fruits and a sturdy frame of chewy tannins, finishing refreshingly.
WS=87 Shows a ripe, forward and friendly profile, with cherry paste and red currant pâte de fruit notes lined with light savoury and singed vanilla notes. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2025.
