Collection: Thunevin - Calvet
The founder of Garage Wine, Mr. Jean-Luc Thunevin, is a legendary and influential winemaker in the Bordeaux region of France.
A self-made man who used to be a bank clerk and had never received a formal winemaking school education, he bought 0.6 hectares of grape fields in 1989 and produced only 1,500 bottles of wine in 1991.
Because there was no money at the time, he brewed and bottled it in my garage with limited manpower.
With his rare winemaking talent, strong love for wine and unremitting pursuit of quality, two years later he produced Château Valandrau (Valandrau), which was rated as "Bordeaux's highest rated" by the world-famous wine critic Robert Parker.
Mr. Thurnevin adheres to strict brewing methods such as low yield, organic planting, hand-picking, late harvesting and hand-selected grapes, and long-term fermentation with natural yeast.
