Like the 2020, the 2019 Cotes du Roussillon Occultum Lapidem Blanc is a blend of 60% Grenache Blanc and 40% Grenache Gris, with a portion of the wine fermented and aged in demi-muids. Melon and tangerine notes dominate the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is honeyed and round, balanced by a bit of unreleased CO2 and a slight, pith-like bitterness on the finish.\n\nMichel Chapoutier's Roussillon outpost continues to turn out multiple cuvées of very good to excellent quality. The larger-production stuff offers excellent value, while the single-parcel selections—produced in quantities as small as 127 cases (the 2019 Coullioure Chrysopée)—can rival some of the wines Chapoutier produces at home in the Northern Rhône.
