JS=92 Crushed-blackcurrant, plum, ink, graphite and licorice aromas. Lemon-zest and saline notes, too. It’s medium-bodied with sleek, tight tannins and fresh acidity. Fresh, clean finish. Linear and fine. Better in 2024, but already very attractive.

WA=89-91 Deep purple-black colored, the 2018 Mauvais Garcon ("bad boy") is a little closed to begin, giving way to notes of freshly crushed black plums, warm blackberries and boysenberries with wafts of tobacco, fallen leaves and garrigue. Full-bodied, concentrated and built like a brick house, it has a solid frame of chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and savory. AG=88
