Ratings and Tasting Notes:
JS=97 Lots of cedar, tea-leaf, and hazelnut character and ripe fruit aromas. Citrus peel, too. Full body, round and juicy tannins, and a flavorful finish. Smoky undertone. This is structured and so complex. Drink in 2023.
WA=95 The 2015 Gazin has a very expressive bouquet with red and black fruit laced with black truffle and smoke, beautifully defined and gaining intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple opening, hints of dark chocolate filtering through the black fruit laced with white pepper, and a touch of tobacco. The finish is refined and focused with a sense of tension lingering on the aftertaste. Gazin has enjoyed a superb run of form in recent years and the 2015 belongs to the canon of great modern-day Gazins.
AG=93. WS=93 Plush and warm, with fig, boysenberry, and blackberry confiture notes inlaid with light charcoal, black tea, and fruitcake hints. The fleshy finish lets the charcoal element lead the way. Best from 2022 through 2032.
