Ratings and Tasting Notes:
WA=92 The NV Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Rosé is a blend of 80% Pinot Nero and 20% Chardonnay. It exhibits a pale pink colour that has evidently been studied and carefully executed. That same attention to detail is applied to the bouquet. Delicate and vibrant aromas of forest berry and cassis emerge slowly from the glass. It also shows subtle yeast aromas of baked bread or croissant. The wine's texture is lean and firm, and the soft effervescence serves to keep the palate clean.
AG=92 Luminous pink-ruby. Fresh, penetrating aromas of tea leaf, bergamot, ginger and sweet spices. Rich and dense, but far livelier than is normal for this usually quite round and soft cuvée, with flavours similar to the aromas. The finish is juicy and vibrant, not to mention long. Lovely stuff. Disgorged in 2018.
WS=91 A balanced Franciacorta rosé is framed by lively acidity, and the lacy mousse offers a pretty range of dried cherries, Mandarin orange peel, red liquorice and chopped almond. The salty finish is bright and zesty. Disgorged spring 2019. Drink now through 2025.
JS=91 With its rusty colour, this is a bit suspect, but there’s actually some good dried peaches, dust and clay. Full-bodied and very intense but quite reserved somehow on the finish. Drink now.
