WA=92 This is a mid-weight Nebbiolo that pours from the bottle with a mild ruby colour. The Lodali 2017 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is perfumed with rose potpourri and dried lilac on the first nose. Those lifted aromas eventually fade to reveal dark fruit, crushed mineral and some lightly toasted spice. Even after the wine has warmed in the glass, those flower aromas remain in pole position.

JS=91 Loads of dried rose petals in the nose, together with ripe red fruit and a hint of red pepper. Medium-bodied with firm, fruit-coated tannins and a tight bead of fruit through the finish. Subtle, elegant Barolo. Drink after 2022.
