Ratings and Tasting Notes:
(AG=95) The 2001 Chianti Classico Vigna del Sorbo is in a beautiful place right now. Early signs of tertiary complexity are just beginning to show on the bouquet. A wine of pure power and depth, the 2001 is indelibly shaped by the naturally low yields of the vintage, a year in which a devastating spring frost took with a significant portion of the production. The 2011 is a powerful, full-bodied Sorbo with enough structure to drink well for many years. (WA=91) Deep garnet-black colour. This wine has an earthy, meaty nose of truffles, tobacco, cherries and dark chocolate. The palate shows a medium-full body with a very good balance of ripe, chewy tannins and a great backbone of medium to high acidity. Some minerality lingers in the long finish. Drink now to 2020. Tasted at the winery September 2007. (WS=91) Very fresh on the nose with lots of dried flowers, berries and crushed fruit. Medium- to full-bodied, with good tannins and a bright, fruity finish. Solid, beautiful yet refined ¡K as always. Drink now. 2,500 cases made.
