Ratings and Tasting Notes:(WA=96) The 2015 Scharzhofberger Riesling Sp?tlese opens with a clear, intense and very elegant bouquet that intertwines flint/slate-like aromas with perfectly ripe and piquant Scharzhofberg flavors. Terribly pure, piquant and fresh, this Sp?tlese is also lush and stimulating on the palate. This is a picture-book Sp?tlese with tropical fruit flavors and a great mineral tension. The finish is mouth-wateringly pure and piquant, fine and salty. A great, great Saar Sp?tlese from the famous Scharzhofberg! (AG=95) White peach, quince and lime dominate on the nose as well as on a luscious, subtly creamy yet insistently bright palate, which is rich in glycerol but with striking buoyancy as well as an underlying firmness that suggests the absence of any superfluous fat. Sweetness, too, is so ideally judged and supportive that it is the last thing one thinks about. Hints of cress, mint, yeast and raw almond serve for simultaneous invigoration and cooling caress. The sole Scharzhofberger Sp?tlese of the M?ller 2015 collection offers a wonderful opportunity to experience this site and estate at their best without having to bid with deep pockets at the Trier auctions. (JS=95) A stunning sp?tlese that combines great delicacy of aroma with impressive richness and concentration. Very complex interplay of sweetness, fruit, minerals and acidity that continues right to the end of the very long pure finish. You drink this now or wait 10, 20 or more years.
