WA=92-94 Deep garnet-purple coloured, the 2019 La Louviere leaps from the glass with bold notions of baked blackberries, warm cassis and wild blueberries followed by hints of lilacs, crushed rocks and fertile loam with a waft of graphite. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of juicy black fruits with a firm backbone of finely grained tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and minerally.

AG=92-94 The 2019 La Louvière was picked from 19 September to 11 October at 47hl/ha, then matured in around 50% new oak. It offers blackberry, melted tar and sous-bois scents on the nose, a little broody at first but opening up nicely with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a firm grip, plenty of graphite infused black fruit with a vivacious and quite persistent finish. This is a superb La Louvière, one of the best that I have encountered from the barrel.

JS=92-93 There’s plenty of blueberry, coffee and chocolate character. Full body and fine, lightly chewy tannins.
