Ratings and Tasting Notes:
(RP=92-94) Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 la Louviere flaunts a bold, brash nose of baked cherries, cr?me de cassis and blueberry pie with hints of woodsmoke, cedar chest, balsamic, black olives and menthol. Full-bodied and richly fruited, it has a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a lingering minty lift. (JS=92-93) This is very solid with lots of blackberry and tobacco character. Hints of cedar and walnuts, too. Full and flavorful. Better than 2016. (WS=89-92) Kirsch and raspberry p?te de fruit notes are streaked with iron and sanguine hints, imbuing this red with tension and contrast. A touch extracted on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. (AG=89-91) The 2018 La Louvi?re is a real powerhouse. Leather, smoke, incense and scorched earth wrap around a core of dark red fruit in this virile, imposing Pessac L?ognan. I won't be surprised if the 2018 turns out even better than this note suggests, as it is full of personality.
