WA=92 The 2018 Vougeot 1er Cru Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot has turned out nicely, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, peach, orange oil and a generous but not overpowering application of toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, its textural attack segues into a tangy, vibrant mid-palate, concluding with a saline finish. As readers will remember, small percentages of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc complement Chardonnay in this cuvée. WS=91 Smoky, matchstick and lime blossom aromas mark this sleek white. Apple, lemon pie and baking spice flavors hold center court, while it finishes with subtle length. Overall, this reveals harmony and intensity on a delicate frame. Drink now through 2024. AG=90-92. AM=90 Ripe but cool and restrained aromas offer up notes of various citrus elements along with poached pear, apple and a floral top note. I very much like the texture of the solidly powerful and dense medium-bodied flavors that possess evident minerality on the delicious, complex and sneaky long finish. This could use a bit better depth, but this too may well develop more if held for 2 to 3 years first.
