Ratings and Tasting Notes:
(AG=92) The 2018 Macon-Chardonnay, which is always the first Dominique Lafon picks, has a gorgeous, stony, austere bouquet that cries out for a platter of fruits de mer. The palate is fresh and crisp with a saline entry, demonstrating more weight than the Macon-Uchizy, and a persistent, entrancing finish. Superb.
(AM=89-91) Discreet wood and matchstick influences frame pretty aromas of apple and citrus. There is excellent volume to the intense and attractively textured medium weight flavors that possess even better depth and persistence on the dry but not austere finale. This too is well-worth checking out.
(RP=90) The 2018 Macon-Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette is showing nicely, offering up a pretty bouquet of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, blanched almonds and mint. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and incisive, it's precise and mineral, with bright acids, a delicate core of fruit and chalky grip on the finish.
