Ratings and Tasting Notes:(RP=94) The 2018 Grands Ech?zeaux Grand Cru has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved nose of raspberries and plums, complemented by nuances of rose petals, spices and orange rind. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's deep and multidimensional, with lively acids and beautifully refined tannins. This exhibits terrific potential for sustained bottle age. (AM=90-92) This is aromatically similar to the Clos de Vougeot though, as would be expected, it's spicier. The sleek, intense and muscular medium weight plus flavors that manage to retain pretty good detail and while the finish is not super complex and is decidedly warm finish, it is admirably persistent.
