Ratings and Tasting Notes:AG=94 The 2018 Rol Valentin is a heady, extroverted wine. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, spice, cedar, new leather and tobacco race across the palate as this unabashedly flamboyant Saint-?milion shows off its sexy personality. Gorgeous, deep aromatics help balance some of the opulence. The 2018 is not exactly shy, but it sure is alluring. JS=93 Ripe cherries, crushed berries, violets, mocha and sweet tobacco on the nose. It¡¦s full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Very tight and reserved with lovely, layered structure. Try from 2024. RP=91 Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Rol Valentin¡Xa blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc¡Xgallops out of the glass with upfront scents of baked blackberries, plum preserves and dried mulberries, plus hints of hoisin, black tea and unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has plush tannins and a lively backbone framing the dried berry flavors, finishing spicy.
