Ratings and Tasting Notes:
(RP=94) Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Lascombes leaps from the glass with black raspberries, mulberries and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of earth, herbs, meats and cedar. Medium-bodied, it has plenty of juicy fruit and is fresh and plush, finishing long with a mineral lift.
(JS=94) Impressive ripeness for the vintage with plum and light dark-chocolate character. Ripe, creamy tannins that are polished and pretty to taste. Full-bodied, but not too much. Flavorful finish. A blend of 57% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot and 3% petit verdot. Drink in 2022.
(AG=93) The 2017 Lascombes is dark, plush and sumptuous, as it so often is. A wine with no hard edges and tons of immediacy, Lascombes will be hard to resist pretty much upon release. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, menthol, licorice and lavender infuse the 2017 with striking depth as well as character. Readers should expect a racy, unapologetically flamboyant style.
