Ratings and Tasting Notes:
JS=94 Very powerful and very composed with an array of ripe peaches and melon. Lime and apples, too. The palate’s really succulent, powerful and rich. Super complete and complex. A fresh finish. Drink or hold.
AM=92 There is enough wood present to warrant pointing out framing the still primary nose of mostly mineral reduction and exotic white orchard fruit and floral aromas. The attractively textured, sappy and mouth coating flavours possess excellent volume as well as ample minerality on the lemony, markedly dry and youthfully austere finale where the wood reappears. This is a powerful and well-constituted Les Clos and one that will need a few years of cellaring first.
WA=91 The 2016 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is excellent, wafting from the glass with notes of lemon, mandarin and pastry cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, chewy and structured, with impressive concentration and depth, concluding with a bright, stony finish.
AG=89 The 2016 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a fresh, quite focused bouquet with apple peeling, granite and light smoky aromas that gather momentum in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a slightly bitter edge on the entry, quite racy and poised and yet the finish does not quite follow through and needs a little more depth and certainly more terroir expression. Tasted blind at the BIVB Chablis tasting.
