Ratings and Tasting Notes:
(JS=93) This is really succulent and beautiful with layers of ripe plums and hints of chocolate on the palate. Full body, round and velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Luxurious merlot. Try after 2022. (RP=85-87) The 2016 Mathilde from La Fleur Morange showed a touch of reduction, but I found more complex fruit underneath compared to the regular cuvee. The palate is medium-bodied with furry tannin, low acidity, here, a little pushed in the winery and it is just missing some complexity and tension on the finish that feels dominated by wood tannins.
