(JS=89) Attractive, riper dark plums and cassis here with a wealth of silky, smoothly rendered tannins. Try from 2020.

(AG=88) The 2016 Domaine Virginie Thunevin offers attractive brambly red fruit on the nose, mixed with black olive and violet. The palate is ripe and sweet on the entry, a little rustic in style but fresh and grippy on the finish. Fine.

(WA=86-88) The 2016 Virginie Thunevin has a rather sultry bouquet with black cherries and a touch of liquorice. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a little rustic at the entry with a slight bitterness marking the black, soy-tinged fruit on the finish. Drink this Bordeaux AC from Jean-Luc Thunévin over the next three or four years.
