Ratings and Tasting Notes:
AM89 OUTSTANDING! Once again there is a smoky reductive note adding a bit of breadth to the white orchard fruit, citrus and discreet floral scents. There is slightly more volume to the nicely rich and appealingly textured medium weight flavors that possess unusually good power in the context of what is typical for the appellation, all wrapped in a clean, dry and sneaky long finish. This too offers good quality for St. V_ran.
WS89 A whiff of clove leads off, followed by vanilla, butterscotch and grapefruit flavors. Features a hint of bitter citrus peel on the finish. Drink now. 900 cases made.
AG88+ (just bottled; made from multiple sites with southern exposure): Bright, light yellow. Highly perfumed, liqueur-like aromas of orange oil, mirabelle and spices. Then surprisingly juicy and light on its feet, and less ripe than the nose suggests. Rather firm acidity here is a bit spiky in the early going. Gon noted that this fruit had thick skins and little juice, suggesting some impact from the drought. I'd forget about this wine for at least two years.
