Ratings and Tasting Notes:
(JS=90-91) This shows lots of potential with a solid core of fruit and tannins. Full body, round tannins and a savoury finish. Very good for a second wine.
(WA=88-90) The Amiral de Beychevelle 2014 is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Merlot from mostly young vines in the vineyard. It has an attractive bouquet, especially for a second label, with brambly black fruit mixed with graphite and incense all nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy on the entry with lively, brambly black fruit mixed with cassis and blueberry, not complex but harmonious and quite long. This is definitely a second wine to look out for.
(WS=88) Delightful plum, violet and anise notes stretch out over mildly brambly tannins, ending with a juicy edge and good energy. Best from 2019 through 2024.
