Ratings and Tasting Notes:
RP91 The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Chaumees Clos de la Truffiere has a complex bouquet that is nicely delineated: hints of lemon curd, apple peelings, jasmine and sous-bois. The palate is crisp and lively on the entry with a keen line of acidity, hints of toffee apple surfacing in the second half with a little more spice than Jouard¡¦s other premier crus toward the persistent finish. Very fine, although I think the 2012 had the edge of this.
AG89-92 (from vines planted on very thin soil in 1950): Bright yellow color. Less fruity and more mineral-driven than the foregoing premier crus, offering scents of crushed rock and menthol. Offers lovely limestone lift and perfume to the flavors of white peach, musky quinine, ginger and minerals. Tightly wound but already showing the complexity to come. Finishes scented and long.
