Ratings and Tasting Notes:

(RP=91) Served blind at the Southwold 2009 tasting. The La Louviere 09 has a delightful bouquet of dark cherries, kirsch, well-integrated creamy oak that is perfectly in tune with the wine. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, building gradually to an understated finish that shows great finesse. Tasted January 2013.

(JS=91) Lots of chocolate and berry characters with hazelnuts as well. Full and juicy with lots of good fruit and a delicious finish. Try in 2015.

(WS=89) Polished, with a slightly forward core of plum and blackberry fruit woven with subtle toasty vanilla and roasted alder wood notes. Drink now through 2015.

(AG=89) Bright red-ruby. Expressive aromas and flavors of super-ripe plum, roasted meat, and leather. Fat, round, and sweet if a bit rustic and monolithic today. This big boy could use a bit more shape and definition. Not a particularly primary style and yet it gives the impression of a bit of drying acidity on the back end. Needs a couple of years to knit.
