Ratings and Tasting Notes:
WS=93 Very solid, this sports lots of fresh bay, pepper and rosemary notes amid a slightly chunky core of black currant and fig paste flavours. The finish picks up a prominent charcoal edge, but this is warm and inviting overall. Like a cabin hideaway, this is pleasantly rustic.—Blind 2000 Bordeaux retrospective (December 2015). Drink now through 2023.
WA=91-93 At en primeur: superb definition on the nose. Very pure with fine cedar and pencil-lead notes. Lovely ripeness here. Fine acidity. Pure classic Cabernet. Fresh and very classy - a Cabernet lovers delight. Then after bottling in November 2004. Just a stunning 2000 that offers great value for money. A pure nose of cedar, blackberry and pine. A nose that screams Pauillac from the church tower. Well-balanced palate with good definition. Peppery black fruits with a touch of black truffle developing. Cool, refined with a long, regal Cabernet finish. From 2010.
AG=90 The 2000 Duhart-Milon is noticeably deep in colour. It has a crisp bouquet of brambly black fruit, truffle, freshly rolled tobacco and just a touch of mint. The aromatics here are impressive and exude Pauillac class. The palate is medium-bodied with suppler tannins than the aromatics augur, and austere but quite deep in the mouth, suggesting burnt toast and tobacco. Black pepper surfaces toward the finish, which lingers nicely with just a slight bitterness. Very fine.
